New to the boards, but I'm a life long Star Wars fan and I have been building custom lightsabers for the last 6 years. I want to try and take the next step into costuming. The 501st seems like fun with a purpose. Glad to be here.

Welcome to the boards and to Bast Alpha!

Bayou Con is this weekend in Lake Charles - will you be attending? We'll have a table on Saturday and Sunday.

Bayoucon on Sunday sounds good! I have a shop in LC and Saturdays are tough to schedule anything short of a few months' notice. In the future I would like to attend a prop party though, that would be a great way to get some experience. As far as my first costume, I'd love to do a stormtrooper. BUT, I am 6'3" 300lbs. Haven't found any kits or molds that would fit me. Maybe you folks might have some insight. If not a trooper then a Tusken Raider or Vader. Thoughts?

ATA or RT should fit you. RT will prob be the best. You can find them on whitearmor. You will just need to shim the sides out to fit around you.

Sorry here is the link http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/

Look under the getting started section. It has a thread about how to get in contact with the armor makers. and its RT/MOD that fits the bigger/fluffy troopers. ;)
